QC Inspector

Job Purpose

To perform in-process and final dimensional inspections of machined components in the machine shop to ensure conformance with API product specifications, approved drawings, and internal quality control plans. The role ensures early identification of nonconformities, maintains part traceability, and contributes to the compliance and integrity of API product manufacturing, aligning with API Q1, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

In-Process Inspections        

• Perform dimensional, visual, and surface finish inspections during machining.
• Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, and thread profiles using calibrated tools (micrometers, gauges, etc.).
• Carry out in-process and final dimensional inspection of machined parts (e.g., valve bodies, gates, stems, hubs, clamps, couplings, adaptors) as per API 6A, 5CT, 7-1, 16A, 16C, 6D standards and engineering drawings.
• Verify critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and control features at designated stages as per ITPs and routing sheets.
• Ensure product traceability, marking, and serialization during all stages of machining.

Quality Assurance   

• Ensure machining complies with API 6A, 16A, 7-1, 5CT, 6D, and engineering requirements.
• Verify supporting records (e.g., MTCs, heat treatment, and test reports).
• Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs, and support implementation and verification of corrective actions

Documentation         

• Maintain detailed and traceable in-process inspection reports, check sheets, and deviation reports.
• Assist in compiling the Quality Record Book (QRB) for customer deliverables

Calibration and Equipment Maintenance             

• Ensure all measuring instruments are within calibration.
• Report damaged or unserviceable tools and assist in replacements or calibration coordination.

Compliance and Audits       

• Support internal and external audits (API Q1, ISO 9001, API 6A licenses, etc.).
• Ensure adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 HSE standards during operations.

Collaboration              

• Work closely with machinists, production leads, and quality engineers.
• Share insights and suggestions for process improvement and defect prevention.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)  

• Conduct inspections in compliance with safety and environmental protocols.
• Promote and enforce a safe inspection environment on the shop floor.
